How To Think Big Using The Middle FingerMar 06 Do you have any unrealized dreams?
Dreams you tried to manifest at one time but then fear or people or circumstances got in the way and you pushed it to the back of your mind.
They lay there in the dark, ignored, with just enough power to whisper to your soul every so often before going silent again.
The whispers hurt but you’ve convinced yourself the time for that dream has come and gone.
What if you could revive it? Would you try?
BIG THINK and Middle Fingers could be your dreams ride out of purgatory. It could also be the saving grace for a new dream about to be born.
What Is Thinking Big?
THINKING BIG is the starting point. It’s the place where ideas come into being and you give yourself permission to believe anything is possible.
Nothing awesome goes down without THINKING BIG being a part of the mix.
THINKING BIG is also the end point. It’s the visual that gives you a clear destination so you can start planning what the journey needs to look like in order to get there.
Your BIG THOUGHTS are what will help propel you forward into action. And it’s those actions that will make your dreams and desires a reality.
THINKING BIG is letting go of the familiar and embracing the unknown. The unknown is where your dreams grow and is directly connected to what you have to offer the world.
Deepak Chopra calls this the Law of Pure Potentiality. He says, “each of us has an unlimited capacity to envision and manifest our deepest dreams and desires.”
The Enemy Of Thinking Big
THINKING BIG shouldn’t be a difficult thing to execute. Unfortunately you will inevitably face some challenges when attempting to realize your potential.
I call them THE VOICES.
The well-meaning but fear based voices from those around you who don’t like change, anything that appears different or the unknown.
The societal voice that bombards us with the message to fall in line and don’t ruffle any feathers.
And the voice within, the inner critic who, when it first hears your outlandish idea, shuts that bad boy down in 10 seconds flat. “What makes you think you can do that?!? Are you crazy!?!”
And that’s the end of that dream or desire or passion.
But no longer! Let everyone’s dreams, desires and passions BOOM! Today I’d like to suggest a weapon you use to fight the voices.
Activate The Middle Finger
Whenever you come up against someone intent on destroying your BIG THOUGHTS use your middle fingers like Wonder Woman uses her bulletproof bracelets.
WW’s bracelets are indestructible and able to deflect automatic weapon fire and energy blasts.
Your middle fingers can do the same. Thrust your middle fingers in the air to deflect incoming bullshit.
Now you don’t have to literally give people the bird, although if you feel the situation warrants it by all means go for it.
Activating your middle fingers is more an internal visual you can use to help protect you and build your resolve when support is lacking.
Think of someone who’s tried to kill one of your dreams. Now envision yourself flipping them off as their mouth keeps moving but their words can no longer be heard.
I know it may sound a little weird but visualization can be a powerful thing.
Here are a few real life middle finger examples to inspire you:
After auditioning for Decca Records, The Beatles were rejected and told, “we don’t like your sound, guitar groups are on their way out.”
Twelve publishers turned down author J.K. Rowling’s first Harry Potter manuscript before it was finally accepted.
Julia Child began cooking at 37. She didn’t let being a late bloomer stop her.
According to Ben Affleck, one of the first short films he ever directed called I Killed My Lesbian Wife, Hung Her on a Meat Hook, and Now I Have a Three-Picture Deal at Disney was horrible. He is quoted as saying, “I’m not proud of it…It looks like it was made by someone who has no prospects, no promise.”
Now if he’d let that first attempt stop him from pursuing his directing dreams he would never have won the Best Picture Oscar last week for Argo.
Follow the lead of all these successful people.
When The Voices say no, don’t take it as validation that your idea sucks, instead flip it upside down and use it as motivation…while giving the finger of course.
