The Importance of Fighting for Justice

One of the toughest things to do as a superhero is speak up when you see an injustice going down.

This is especially hard when you know you will face attack and ridicule for speaking up.

But as superheroes this is the call we must answer in order to honor our mission of making the world a better place.

SUPPORT SUPERCH!CKs IN KENYA

In Kenya last week, women took to the streets to speak out against the brutal gang rape of a 16 year old girl “dubbed” Liz.

Here we think, well of course speak out against something horrible like that! But in Kenya most rapes go unnoticed and unreported.

This is highlighted by the fact that Liz managed to identify three of her attackers. When caught by the police they were let go after their punishment – cutting the grass at the police station.

The women of Kenya had enough and took to the streets in Nairobi.

Even though people are speaking up, there is fear police in the rural county where Liz lives may put pressure on her to recant her story.

If you’d like to support Liz for speaking up against her attackers you can sign this petition or share this facebook post.

If not, I challenge you to stay open for opportunities to speak up when wrongdoing happens in your piece of the world.

It doesn’t have to be big. It can be reporting an abused animal. Speaking up when someone litters. Or even refusing to partake in gossip or conversation that talks badly about another.

There are endless opportunities for us to flex our bravery muscles and shine a light on injustices.

It’s all about taking action.
